Each autumn Zac's advisor puts together a lab excursion in New Hampshire. We start by hiking up Mt. Kearsage (what a view) then stop at a family-owned orchard (Gould Hill Orchard) on our way back to his advisor's house. Everyone pitches in to make apple crisp, apple pie, steak, chicken, salads, veggies, etc..., it's a great time to de-stress and enjoy life away from the computers and campus. We also tried out Tim's rocket. My mom gave it to Tim two years ago. Unfortunately the igniters didn't work after so long. It ended up lighting itself on fire instead. "Burn baby Burn!"-comes to mind. Sorry Mom!
In my previous life, I was a Girl Scout leader (now I'm the mother of a college freshman...). Several troops camped overnight near Mt. Kearsage and then hiked it. Really beautiful! Unfortunately, one of the girls from another troop slipped and broke her wrist. As a first aider, I slung her arm and talked her and her mother down the mountain. It was memorable. Haven't been up since.
